A painting called ( A Pathway in Monets Garden Giverny ) is a painting painted by Monet in 1902

We present to you an overview of the artist of the painting:

Oscar Claude Monet 1840 - 1926

French painter and founder of Impressionist painting who is seen as a key introduction to modernism, particularly in his attempts to paint nature as he perceived it. During his long career, he was the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the Impressionist philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, particularly when applied to outdoor landscape painting.

Monet grew up in Normandy, and became interested in the outdoors and painting from an early age. Although his mother, Louise Justine Aubéry Monet, his early works include landscapes, seascapes, and portraits, they did not attract much attention. A major early influence was Eugene Boudin who introduced him to the concept of plein air painting. On the beaches of Normandy, he met his friend, the painter Eugene Boudin, who became his personal teacher and taught him how to use oil colors. Boudin taught Monet painting techniques abroad

Monet's ambition to document the French countryside led him to a technique of painting the same scene several times to capture the changing light and the passing of the seasons. Among the best known examples are his series of Haystacks (1890-1891), the paintings of Rouen Cathedral (1894), and the paintings of water lilies in his garden at Giverny.

Often exhibited and successful during his lifetime, Monet's fame and popularity rose in the second half of the 20th century when he became one of the world's most famous painters and a source of inspiration for a growing group of artists.
