A painting called ( The Mill Stream ) painted by John Constable in 1814
We present to you an overview of the artist of the painting:
John Constable 1776 - 1837 English landscape painter in the Romantic tradition.
Born in Suffolk, he is primarily known for revolutionizing the genre of landscape painting with his pictures of Dedham Vale, the area around his home – now known as 'Constable Country' and which he invested with intense affection.
“I must paint my own places better,” he wrote to his friend John Fisher in 1821, “drawing is but another word for feeling.” Constable's most famous paintings include Wivenhoe Park (1816), Dedham Valley (1821) and The High Wynne (1821).
Although his paintings are now among the most popular and valuable in British art, he was not financially successful. He became a member of the institution after being elected to the Royal Academy of Arts at the age of 52. His work was embraced in France, where it outsold more than in his native England and inspired the Barbizon School.
